Digital Engineering – Application Developer Senior Advisor   

Position Overview:              

As an Application Development Sr Advisor, you will provide hands on technical design and development of large-scale, scalable, reliable, secure, global software applications and services for Digital organization.  You will participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, working directly with partner IT and business teams, owning and driving major deliverables across all aspects of design and software delivery. You will provide guidance to the teams on frameworks, patterns, best practices, approved technologies and tools & solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

·        As a full stack engineer, you are responsible for Design & Development of modern, scalable architecturally sound components and applications

·        Strive to build better development and architecture practices, patterns and documentation

·        Continuous focus on code quality including code reviews

·        Collaborate with other software engineers, domain experts, and end-users, to build the right solutions that address our business needs

·        Focus on End-User

·        Understand future business needs and provide a technical strategy

·        Collaborate with peers and participate in brainstorming sessions to deliver the quality product

·        Work closely with management and provide continuous feedback on the overall technical improvements & innovations

·        Work closely with PVS team to make sure on the application performance standards and optimize performance metrics

·        Participates in evaluation and prioritization of business team requests

·        Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business alignment with team, leadership chain, and with customers

·        Foster innovation within team and the larger engineering community

·        Work to create a culture of trust and support across the geographical scrum teams (will contribute to Digital overall strategy)

Required Experience / Qualifications:  

·        8+ Interactive web application development experience

·        8+ years of software development experience in Java, Spring Boot

·        Skilled in designing technical solutions using object-oriented concepts and Microservice design patterns

·        Solid experience in Angular

·        Experience in designing software for scalability, reliability and performance

·        Experience in optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

·        Deep understanding of cloud based distributed software architecture and design

·        Experience in AWS is a big advantage

·        Experience with NoSQL Databases such as MongoDB, Redis cache

·        Knowledge of professional engineering practices & best practices, including design patterns

·        Experience with back-end distributed systems like DB2/Oracle and skilled at SQL and PL/SQL

·        Experience with containers such as Open Shift/ Kubernetes, Docker is a plus

·        Experience with Kafka is a plus

·        Experience with the SAFe and  SCRUM methodology for agile software development

·        Experience with test automation framework or use of mocking frameworks.

·        Demonstrated ability to prioritize work environment and make independent decisions.

·        Ability to present concepts and ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors and technical staff to ensure that all of IT and its business clients understands and supports the technical direction

·        Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree is preferred

Must be a current contractor with Cigna, Express Scripts, or Evernorth. Evernorth is a new business within the Cigna Corporation. 

This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.
