Job Description

Job description

Some careers have more impact than others.

If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.

The Compliance function is a Second line of defence (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD”) to ensure that they effectively manage, as “Risk Owners”, the Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group’s risk framework.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as an Analytics Tools Lead working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The Product Management team ensures that essential systems and data are available to enable Compliance to conduct effective and efficient investigations and analytics. The team is proactive and future-looking, shaping analytics technology and promoting its adoption across Compliance.

The role holder will be responsible for the identification, analysis and implementation of requirements for the enhancement of the existing analytics offering and of new analytics capabilities.  Striving to provide best-in-class solutions for turning one of the Bank’s largest data assets into robust oversight, investigation capability and controls. This will require close and productive working relationships with Information Technology (IT), Compliance and the wider analytics community. The role will be based in Edinburgh, but may require occasional nationwide or overseas travel.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify and drive enhancements to the Compliance Technology suite to drive greater global operational effectiveness and increase the return on investment.
  • Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with a diverse set of customers and stakeholders.
  • Use the technical and business knowledge to formulate actionable solutions to problems or identify new opportunities to enhance the system.
  • Rapidly develop an accurate understanding of highly complex analytics tools, including multiple data feeds, network analysis logic and algorithmic scoring models.
  • Develop a large body of contextual knowledge on wholesale banking sectors and retail transaction monitoring, as well as the specific financial crime risks associated with them.
  • Participate in providing the platforms to facilitate the transformation of transaction monitoring away from an event driven to a contextual driven model to fight money laundering and fraud.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Awareness of IT infrastructure especially Cloud Platforms and Distributed Computing.
  • Basic Business reengineering knowledge.
  • Business analysis, requirements gathering and design techniques.
  • Change management and implementation management techniques and approaches.
  • Proven track record as a project manager, product owner or scrum master.
  • Knowledge of analytics platforms, software and supporting technologies.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
