Job Description

Our Analytics Engineer develops digital infrastructure and data pipelines to accelerate product innovation, product design, and product development. You will work with cross functional teams to gather, wrangle, cleanse, structure and build data products that support the analytics goals of the Global Technology community and the broader organization. The Analytics Engineer builds and maintains the foundational data analytics infrastructure to enable new revenue-generating business models and improve underlying business processes for cost savings. You will lead, manage, and mentor others to expand the team’s capabilities and collective knowledge.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify high-value data sources (both internal and external) which are aligned with team's strategic objectives. Develop technical strategies for data acquisition, storage, and governance.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize data collection and streamline data ingestion.
  • Working within Google Cloud Platform, build automated data pipelines (ex. using AirFlow) to ingest and transform data to make it ready for analytics and/or visualization.
  • Manage cloud resources for analytics pipelines and ensure that the appropriate frameworks and technologies are being implemented. Drive continuous improvement and make recommendations for more efficient ways to perform analytics on large data sets.
  • Keep abreast of current best-practices in the data engineering community and promote best-practices within Colgate.
  • Manage production code developed by team members and serve as a code reviewer for validation.

 

Basic qualifications include:

 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or Computer Science
  • A minimum of 3 years of Data Engineering experience
  • High level of Python proficiency
  • High level of proficiency with SQL
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Strong familiarity with cloud computing platforms
  • Strong oral and written English skills
     

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Consumer Goods Proven Experience is preferred
  • Active GitHub account with examples of past work is helpful
  • Master’s Degree or Professional Certification in Data Engineering or Cloud Computing Platform
  • Proficiency with at least one other programming language in addition to Python
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or Google Big Query are preferred
  • Familiarity with data analytics workflows, objectives, tech stacks, common terminology
