Job Description

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare samples using appropriate methods for sample processing, extraction and clean-up.
  • Instrumental analyses using established methods and novel techniques.
  • Contribute to instrument maintenance and repair.
  • Be aware of and follow the appropriate quality assurance and safety procedures.
  • Write and work from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to defined quality standards.
  • Deliver training to internal staff and external delegates.
  • Contribute to and / or write customer reports
  • Report results within deadlines to accreditation standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new methods.

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge and experience of wet chemistry techniques for sample extraction and clean-up.
  • Knowledge and experience of GC-MS or LC-MS theory and practice, in particular instrument set-up and data processing.
  • Knowledge of pesticides residues analyses.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use of bespoke software to a high level.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • A methodical approach to work and attention to detail.
  • Experience of operating within a quality system (e.g. UKAS or GLP).
