About the job

Summary

The AIB Manager is responsible for management of the Aeronautical Information Bureau including the annual Civil Service reporting of 3 E1 Civil Servants on their routine tasks. Directly supervising the 3 E1s includes improvement and oversight of work practices and continuous improvement, the level of management provided is not limited to these sole tasks and the emphasis is on a proactive approach to assist in the assurance of information to support MoD requirements.

Defence Intelligence (DI) is part of the Ministry of Defence and provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice which supports decision making across all levels of defence and government. At the heart of DI, is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI).? It is the primary provider of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) advice and expertise, comprising imagery intelligence, geospatial analysis, geospatial services, foundation data and military mapping and, in partnership with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and the Meteorological Office, assured data for Safety of Navigation. It is a national capability, recognisably operating alongside other national intelligence agencies and is the UK’s primary interface for international geospatial intelligence partners. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Responsibilities:

a. Direct line management responsibility for 3 x E1 graded staff within AIB.

b. The annual Civil Service reporting of 3 E1’s on their routine tasks.

c. Routine management of Aeronautical Information Bureau, Work Instructions and Terms of Reference.

d. Analysis and interpretation of Aeronautical Information.

e. Support services for the update and publication of information into the unit in accordance with AIRAC Cycle.

f. Editorial checking of all published aeronautical information summaries iaw Unit compliance & standards.

g. Develop a working knowledge of, and implement Units Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 9001.2015, European Directive 76-A (ED76-A) and Aeronautical Data Quality Implementation Rule (ADQIR).

h. Develop a working understanding of ICAO Annex 15 Aeronautical Information Services, ICAO PAN-AIMS Doc 10066, ICAO Annex 4 Aeronautical Charting.

i. Have a working knowledge of the products produced by No 1 AIDU.

j. Having a good working knowledge of NOTAM information and how they are applied to Flight Information Publications.

k. Attend relevant international aeronautical meetings and briefings and disseminate information.
