A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Annuities team as an Actuarial Trainee in the Pricing Team.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and motivated team that will drive success for the Annuity business. The role is based out of York or London however, Aviva is committed to working flexibly and making the most of virtual working and utilising the technology we have to enable us to continue to collaborate with colleagues and engage with our customers.
The bulk annuity market continues to grow as Defined Benefit pension scheme trustees and employers’ de-risk their balance sheets. Bulk annuity business is a key area of growth and value generation for Aviva, with business volumes tripling over recent years
The Capital & Pricing team is responsible for ensuring that the pricing strategy for annuities set Aviva up for success which means understanding the key drivers of annuity profitability and turning these into a successful pricing strategy. The team is also responsible for the annual Planning process and correspondingly setting the pricing targets through the year while reacting to financial and commercial changes.
Duties & Responsibilities Involve:
Assisting pricing actuaries with setting key pricing assumptions by carrying out analysis in key areas
Developing and maintaining pricing models to keep them cutting edge and allow us to win business
Assisting with Planning and re-forecasting of Full Year expectations to help the management make key strategic decisions
Estimating the impact of financial condition changes to the expected price, to help external consultants understand Aviva’s pricing levels in given market conditions
Skills & Experience Required:
Strong mathematical/numerical or actuarial skills
Strong excel skills (VBA or similar skills would be an advantage but not essential)
An interest and ability in analysing data to discover insights and an ability to communicate these
A passion for actuarial sciences, numbers and problem-solving
A curious and courageous mentality
Positive attitude and behaviours, and a willingness to learn new things and work as part of a dynamic team under commercial pressures
Some progress with actuarial exams or an interest in pursuing these or experience in an actuarial role would be beneficial
Knowledge of the BPA market or defined benefit pensions would be an advantage but is not essential
2:1 degree or other equivalent experience

Salary from £26,000 onwards depending on skills, experience and qualifications (we will put together a bespoke package depending on exams which have been passed)
