To assist Scheme Actuaries, Senior Consultants and Analysts in provision of advice to a portfolio of pension schemes. May also include provision of Scheme Actuary services to smaller clients

Job Description:
Provides actuarial advice to trustees of defined benefit pension schemes as required by the pension scheme’s documentation and any statutory requirements (including Scheme Actuary appointment)
Provides actuarial advice to trustees of defined benefit pension schemes as required by the pension scheme’s documentation and any statutory requirements other than where the Scheme Actuary is required to provide such advice (if not appointed as the Scheme Actuary)
Provides advice to trustees and/or sponsors of defined benefit pension schemes in connection with all areas of funding and risk including (but not limited to):
Scheme Funding – including working with the Actuarial Technical Centre (ATC)
Cash equivalent transfer values
Actuarial factors requires to administer the scheme
Mergers/acquisitions/scheme restructuring
Withdrawal events
Buy-out/buy-in
Enhanced transfer values and/or statutory increase exercises
Contracting in/out of the state pension scheme
Section 179/Section 143 actuarial valuations
Asset/liability modelling
De-risking
Pension Scheme design
Legislative/market developments
Risk management
Demographic developments;
Provides advice to sponsors of defined benefit schemes in areas including those listed above and also including (but not limited to):
GAAP for pension scheme accounting (including FRS102/IAS19/US GAAP)
Disclosures of information of directors’ pension benefits in statutory accounts;
Acts in accordance with the terms of appointment for any client
Delivers advice within statutory deadlines and/or deadlines agreed with client;
Liaises with other practice areas and external suppliers as required
Develops and continually strengthens pensions knowledge
Take responsibility for own projects
Process and tackle any complaints at earliest opportunity with a position attitude.
Acts in accordance with any statutory/professional/CEB guidelines including (but not limited to);
Continuing Professional Development
Peer review (including maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date records)
Time recording (including maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date records)
Conflicts of interest
Risk Management
Management of Errors and Omissions
Achieves client chargeable billable hours target as agreed.
Provides such management information as may be required from time-to-time, including (but not limited to):
Client activity/development
Income expectation/forecasting
Budgeting
Clients at risk
Errors and Omissions
Works with Senior Consultants to ensure smooth delivery for all services to client and to keep them abreast of all client activity.
To provide/process information in relation to invoicing of clients within agreed timescales.
Carries out research, development and special project work as agreed by managers and to deliver outputs within agreed timescales;
Assists in the management of actuarial resources as required
Cultivates a culture of compliance and risk awareness focusing on the principles of CEB and Capita Group.
Actively participate and contribute to a Practice Area Specialist Group
Develops an understanding of the client needs, treating them fairly at all times.
To comply at all times with the Compliance, Training and Competence framework of CEB
Actively participates in the Company’s performance management process. Agrees personal objectives and goals with managers and make every effort to satisfy these objectives within the specified time frames.
