Join the ABC News’ Digital team to help write compelling stories for the web. ABC News Digital covers the biggest news for the U.S and world around the clock.  We are based at the ABC News headquarters in New York City, and this internship will be hybrid (both remote and in person). 

A Day in the Life…

You will be expected to join Digital’s twice daily internal news meetings and help with pitching, reporting on and writing stories as well as assisting other reporters in story production. You will work with Digital’s print seniors and editors to craft the stories and see them through to completion and publication on our website. 

  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Pitching, reporting on and writing stories for the web
• Assisting other reporters with templating stories to get them ready for edit
• Assist with covering breaking news events (for example, helping with live blog coverage) 
• Turn around day-of stories with speed and accuracy 

What we are looking for…

• Self-starter and have a collaborative spirit  
• Interest in national and international news
• Basic newswriting experience  
• Willing to learn the various skills needed to craft compelling stories 

  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Familiarity with AP Style

Required Education:

At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney Professional Internship OR Disney College Program

Preferred Education:

Undergraduate students in their senior year or recent graduates

Additional Details:

• This internship is a hybrid internship. The intern will work some days in the office and other days remotely, so it requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated work space.
• The approximate dates of this internship are January – May/June 2023
• Candidate must be available to work full-time hours (40 hours/week, typically 8:30am- 4:30pm) in Eastern Standard Time for the duration of the internship
• Must be willing to relocate to the New York City area and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
