JOB DESCRIPTION

A senior simulation engineering position responsible for the development, application, and management of advanced simulation analysis and CAE applications for mobility systems, with an emphasis on electric propulsion system characterization and vehicle longitudinal drive cycle simulation for medium and heavy duty trucks and buses.

Job Responsibilities:

•Conduct ePowertrain system level simulation and computer aided analysis activities in areas including:

oVehicle drive cycle efficiency determination

oDrive and duty cycle characterization

oPerformance characterization

oThermal characterization

oTorsional dynamics characterization

oSystem configuration and control calibration optimization

•Document analyses with high quality written reports and presentations

•Support related corporate engineering analytical needs for new product planning and development activities

•Support related business unit analytical needs for existing product application and customer support activities

•Obtain and manage ePowertrain system modeling information and maintain a centralized library

•Apply, maintain, and evolve existing system analytical applications and frameworks

•Develop new analytical capabilities and applications

•Provide guidelines and training to a broader user base for specific analytical applications

•Develop recommended practices and internal standards for simulation and analysis

•Support collaborative analysis related activities with university, national laboratory, customer, and supplier partners

Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science

•Eight years of work experience on automotive and/or commercial vehicle powertrain systems

•Competency in vehicle longitudinal dynamic driving simulation analysis

•Competency in general technical programming / scripting

•Relevant experience with interdisciplinary product systems, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems

•Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

•Master’s degree in engineering or applied science

•Five years of work experience on automotive and/or commercial vehicle electric powertrain systems

•Competency in electric vehicle longitudinal dynamic driving simulation analysis

•Competency in Matlab/Simulink programming and Python programming

•Competency in Graphical User Interface (GUI) programming and advanced graphical visualization of data including 3D and statistical type plots
