The work is also diverse in terms of physical requirements as he/she is apt to experience provocative work postures and physical interactions requiring "near maximal" efforts. Such efforts tend to be tempered by the self-paced nature of the work and his/her ability to plan. This allows the associate to assess the difficulties inherent in the task as determine alternatives that improve working conditions. Physical requirements such as lifting, puling, pushing, grasping, turning, etc. may however involve unknown or uncontrolled forces that can present an immediate risk (e.g. lifting a motor of undefined weight).
Physical Requirements
The production area is climate controlled at 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and temperatures within the freezer are maintained at 0°F to -5°F.
The personnel protective gear requirements include sanitary smock, gloves, hairnet, beard net, bump cap, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, and heavy thermal jacket for freezer entry. The associate must be trained in Lockout/Tag-out, Confined Space Entry, Forklift Operation, Arc Flash, Hot Work, and Hazard Communication.
