Job Description

A)        JOB PURPOSE:
Maintain a safe, orderly, stable and efficient flow of materials, equipment and supplies throughout the plant and within required timeframe to support production builds.  Ensure all SAP transactions are entered accurately.   Load, unload and transfer freight to/from trucks or to/from the warehouse to the work centers as needed.  This position is required to effectively support all areas of receiving, shipping, warehouse and associated inventory tasks. 

B)    RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Common:

  • Participate actively in a teamwork approach to achieving goals.
  • Conveys materials to or from storage areas to designated area, using forklift/powered industrial truck, hand-truck, tugger, or other device.
  • Work safely and within the established safe work practices, policies and procedures of the Dixon plant.
  • Use of required PPE; following safety rules and procedures and training others; compliance with plant code of conduct.
  • Attendance at safety and health training sessions.
  • Housekeeping practice.
  • Assist the materials and manufacturing teams in maintaining a well-organized plant area that supports a visual factory philosophy.
  • Assist the materials and manufacturing teams in the verification of inventory accuracy as well as identifying appropriate corrective action.
  • Act quickly and efficiently to correct related issues. 
  • Highlight areas in need of continuous improvement and work with team to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Use of required PPE; following safety rules and procedures and training others; compliance with plant code of conduct.
  • Attendance at safety and health training sessions  
  • Housekeeping practice.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Shipping:

  • Prepare freight for shipment.
  • Load and unload freight as required, effectively utilizing all appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Stretch wraps and/or bands materials for shipment.
  • Organizes returnables for safe storage within returnable storage area.
  • Match SAP paperwork with materials to shipments.
  • Verify data integrity of shipments before loading materials onto trucks.
  • SAP shipping transactions as necessary.

Receiving:

  • Examines Bill of Ladings and Packing Tickets for data accuracy.
  • Examines receipts for damage.
  • Ensure that all parts and containers are properly labeled, documented, transacted, stored and accounted for.
  • Conduct all necessary proofing. 
  • Notify appropriate personnel when there are any non-conformances.
  •  Organizes and prepares scrapped materials for pick up.  
  • SAP receiving transactions as necessary.

Warehouse:

  •  Picks materials for staging shipments.  
  • Picks materials for tugger route deliveries to support production demands.
  • Refills marketplace areas from high density warehouse locations.   
  • Maintains a high level of attention to the inventory accuracy of the warehouse by supporting the cycle count.  
  • Pick up waste and recyclables from the depts., sort and place in compactor and/or recycle bins.  
  • Break down packaged materials to support point of use consumption levels.
  • SAP warehouse transactions as necessary.

                        Building & Groundskeeper

         Budget:  No budgetary responsibilities

D)     QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

         EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Powered industrial truck permit/competence on all related equipment being utilized at Dixon.
  • Good safety and attendance record.
  • Prior PIT experience required.  One year required.  More than 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with SAP transactions preferred.

  • Good math, reading, writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) System.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills.
  • PC literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • The ability to adapt schedule to meet customer shipping/production/receiving schedules.
  • Good organizational skills - neat and orderly.
  • Strong keyboarding and scanning skills.
