Job Description

Reporting to the Quality Manager, under guidance, you will implement relevant Quality and Food Safety processes and procedures. Oversee the daily execution of activities related area of expertise and focus.

You Will:

  • Assist the QA Team Leader with training of the QC Technician on X-Ray’s, Checkweighers, Code Verification/Traceability, SPC/Infinity (weight sampling)

  • Support designing/updating and implementation of processes and procedures of our facility SQF Plan, HACCP Plan, Food Safety Plan, SSOP’s

  • Assist with the preparing for the SQF, Corporate and Regulatory Audits

  • Gather and studies data to understand trends and issues and to make decisions related to product safety and quality as they relate to consumer complaint and the product quality attributes.

  • Utilize the Unified Problem Solving (UPS) to address opportunities with quality or food safety of the product from receiving to processing to shipping such as FM controls & allergen concerns.

  • Work with the QA Team to complete facility audits such as allergen, glass & brittle plastic, facility defects

  • Complete documentation review, identify gaps and follow-up on issues with documentation to ensure they are resolved

  • Utilize SAP for placing product & material on hold and releasing with the appropriate notification

  • Support the receiving process, requirements for COA review and acceptance criteria for incoming ingredients

  • Assist with plant trial activities and working with R&D on the success criteria

You Have:

  • BS in Food, Biological or Chemical Science or related field.

  • 1 year manufacturing or food industry experience.

  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems and manufacturing processes, technologies or other relevant responsibilities.

  • Familiarity in using continuous improvement tools (SPC, Capability Studies, etc.) and fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of government regulatory requirements in food packaging (GFSI, FSMA, FDA, USDA)

  • Sound report writing.

  • Strength in setting an example for others.

  • Troubleshooting, data analysis, and investigative skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time and as a responsible company representative.

Physical Requirements (optional)

  • Ability to sit, walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis

  • Pushing/pulling various plant materials and/or equipment

  • Will maneuver in cramped/confined spaces

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day to include:  loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies 

  • Frequent bending and/or crawling; must be able to move safely and freely around machinery

  • Driving a company or rental vehicle for up to 8 hours if needed
