Leads the technical design and architecture in large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions. Leads root cause analysis of critical business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); leading actions as designated in the plan. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open-Door Policy

Position description:

The Senior Manager II of POS/Transactional Systems will be responsible for building FE/BE business capabilities, elements and microservices related to the point-of-sale and payment integration. This strategic and tactical technical lead will collaborate with the enterprise teams, product, individual contributors to implementations, Engineering, and perform end-to-end testing, to develop modular POS solutions for members and associates.

  • Cloud native development expertise and mindset.

  • Manage the design and delivery of new features and existing platform services capabilities to improve the underlying best-in-class solutions.

  • Omnichannel experience to facilitate single view of Cart, Member, Inventory and Membership touchpoints.

  • Work across teams and area domains, to ensure all functions are aligned to an engineering and product vision represented in defined roadmaps.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional experience teams and extended business partners.

  • Review and lead technical requirements, draft enhancements, feature, and functionality bringing innovative frameworks and automation to payment capabilities.

  • Be the Sam’s Technology transactional services champion/expert, with executive presence and excellence communication and collaboration competency

You’ll make an impact by: 

  • Understanding of development frameworks both on the frontend and backend

  • Good experience with CI/CD, quality and microservices.

  • Expertise transforming Monolithic POS into composable DDR deliverables.

  • POS experience is preferred.

  • Good to have Retail/Hospitality/Restaurant industry experience.

  • Strong understanding and experience in building resilient systems.

  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to 
    maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives, engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives and supporting associate efforts in these areas. 

  • Significant experience partnering with strategic POS vendors/suppliers.

  • Sets strategic direction for technology platforms to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation across Sam’s Club.

  • Creates and drives an innovate environment and communicates subject matter expertise that influences senior executives’ vision and strategy.

  • Metric & data driven decision-making ability.

  • Ensures talent is appropriately identified by selecting and maintaining qualified direct reports, providing strong input on associate talent throughout the organization; providing overall human capital direction for the function; understanding the business plan and customer needs; and incorporating a strategic talent model that proactively predicts and solves for gaps, upgrades talents and promotes a customer-focused environment.

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field OR 7 years’ experience in software

engineering or related field.

2 years’ supervisory experience.

Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related field
