Job Description

This role is an opportunity to join one of the largest privately owned engineering and construction companies with a significant portfolio of projects within the UK and Ireland. The apprenticeship in Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) will provide the successful candidate with a multitude of activities such as office work, field inspections and the development and review of key documents including H&S plans, Policies, Procedures, Work Package Plans, Risk Assessment and specific ES&H Campaign material. Candidates will be introduced to auditing and assurance requirements along with safe systems of work in accordance with legislative requirements such as the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulation 2015 and compliance to industry standards such as ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.

 

Core Skills

The successful candidate should have good IT skills, strong written skills, and the ability to work as part of a team and independently on specific initiatives ensuring high standards of work always and without constant supervision.

The candidate should also have a clean driving license or plan to obtain one shortly.

This position would ideally suit an A level student looking for an alternative to university education or someone with an existing strong background within the construction industry who has acquired GSCE level qualifications or suitable CITB or SMSTS training courses.

 

Additional Training

In addition to the Level 3 SHE technician apprenticeship you will receive upon completion, the candidate should aspire to also achieve one or more of the following qualifications:

IOSH General Certificate

IOSH Managing Safely

Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) – Apprentice Level 

Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)

 

Career Progression post Apprenticeship

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship the candidate should aspire to complete the following formal qualifications:

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) – Academically Qualified Person or Experienced Technician, Supervisor or Manager

NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Diploma (Degree Level)

Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH)
